Part of the Haymarket Park sports complex, Hawks Field is a one-of-a-kind baseball facility. Located on 32 acres one-half mile west of the UNL campus, the $29.3 million complex includes medical and laundry facilities, coaches’ offices and team lockers and lounges, as well as a state-of-the-art playing surface.
The Hawks Championship Center features 81,200 square feet, including a full-length field identical to Memorial Stadium’s game field. The field is available to all 23 of Nebraska’s varsity teams and provides a controlled environment with excellent lighting.
Construction of a new $4.75 million indoor practice facility was completed in October of 2011. The 22,000-square foot building features a large indoor practice area, along with restrooms and storage facilities. The facility is conveniently located on the northeast corner of Haymarket Park, just feet from Nebraska’s locker room, clubhouse, athletic medicine facilities and coaches’ offices. The practice area has an open design, with 18,000 square feet of usable space. The space is lined with netting, allowing for the entire area to be used for live batting practice ang game simulation. The facility features six retractable batting cages. The batting cages are designed to be large enough to allow for batters to face pitchers in live simulation at the correct pitching distance. When not in use, the cages can be easily retracted to allow for use of the entire space.
